Head of the Sports and Exercise Science Unit

Dr. P. Buvanendiran is the Head of the Sports and Exercise Science Unit and a Senior Lecturer (Grade II) at the Faculty of Science, University of Kelaniya. He specializes in Exercise Science and Physical Education, with academic and research interests spanning sports performance, physical fitness, exercise training, anthropometry and applied sports science.

He holds a PhD from Bangalore, India, an MPE from the Sports Authority of India (SAI), Kerala, a BPE from India, a Diploma in Yoga Science, and Level 1 Anthropometry accreditation from ISAK.

Dr. Buvanendiran is actively involved in teaching, academic advising, research supervision and the development of the BSc Honours in Sports Science programme. His recent research activities include studies on athlete performance, anthropometric assessment, physical fitness and exercise interventions. He also serves as a member of the University of Kelaniya Sports Advisory Board and contributes to academic scholarly activities through the University of Kelaniya Journal of Science.
